After completing his education in IT, Lukas Abrill was looking for an employer that would offer him a good balance between his professional and personal life. He began his career at Sycor with a trainee program, and is now a junior software developer for the Microsoft Dynamics AX area.
Since August 1st, 2017.
2. How did you end up at Sycor?
After completing my education (as an IT specialist for application development), I was looking for an employer that would give me plenty of room to develop both professionally and personally. Because I wanted to focus fully on my final exam and thesis, a headhunter agency helped me look for a job. That’s how I found Sycor and my current job.
3. What did you do previously?
I attended an advanced IT course as part of my high school education, which enabled me to enroll for early study in Computer Science I + II at the University of Göttingen. I was in eleventh grade at the time. Unfortunately, I was unable to continue the university course during twelfth grade because there was a time conflict with my examination subjects. After passing my high school leaving examination, I decided to start a training program rather than a degree program due to the length of time until the semester began and my experiences from the early study course. I then began the training program directly in the second training year and finished it with a good final exam.
4. What do you like about Sycor in particular?
I like the friendly and open way people interact with each other at Sycor. Even as a new “Sycorian,” I immediately felt like I was part of things. Your colleagues are always there for you when you have a question. And the tasks you are assigned are challenging and are always connected to an ongoing learning process. Being able to manage your own working hours is something I really appreciate – because that lets you work when you yourself are most productive.
5. What do you like best about your job? Which of your areas of responsibility do you find the most fun?
My favorite things about my job as a developer are that you get to solve problems and there are always new challenges. Just that feeling of doing a good job meeting someone else’s requirements, or finding what was causing an error.
