Support for change processes with Microsoft SharePoint
Sycor mbs develops a successful platform for internal corporate communication for Lilly Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of the world-leading pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly.
The task was to enable project and change process communication in the company and to facilitate an open exchange of opinions. Employees were to be given the opportunity to pose questions to company management and receive answers. The solution had to be made available via the intranet. "SharePoint is a strategic technology for Lilly. In addition to our intranet, we also use it to realize many of our collaboration projects," says Dr. Daniel Evers, who was in charge of the project as IT Account Manager. Consequently a site was to be set up within the existing SharePoint infrastructure to meet the defined requirements. Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS) was chosen as the development environment. The specified visual design of the site was realized by adapting the GUI templates. Standard web parts were largely used in order to meet the additional requirements. Special requirements such as adapted search functions, editing workflows, specific navigation elements and the integration of videocasts were met through the development of custom web parts.
"This strategy of reusing proven standard components in our development projects saves time as well as development and operating costs," Daniel Evers continues. Acceptance of the site is promising. Answers to numerous questions have already been provided after a short time. "Answers that matter."
